Vittorio Venezia

Vittorio Venezia is an Italian designer. He graduated in Architecture at the University of Palermo in 2005. He began working in industrial design in 2004, after he won the Bombay Sapphire Martini Collection award. In 2006, his doctoral thesis (an Ape Piaggio moped restyled and transformed into a multi-purpose and polymorphous vehicle) won the Lucky Strike Junior Award. In 2007, he moved to Milan and collaborated with numerous globally renowned designers. In 2008, he was selected for the Triennale Prime Cup and featured in the New Italian Design exhibition. During his career, he has won international awards, including the Grand Prix Émile Hermès 2008, Promosedia 2012 and Cristalplant 2013. In 2015, he presented his OfficineCalderai project at the SaloneSatellite during the Milan Furniture Fair, which won the first prize at the Designreport Award 2015. Some of his projects have been exhibited at the Milan Triennale, the Louvre and the MAXXI. Since 2012, he is co-director of the Out of the door masterclass at the Abadir Academy of Catania. He lives and works between Palermo and Milan, where he works with a number of craftsmen and companies, which include Alcantara, Falper, Meritalia and Moleskine. In addition to material objects, he also works on exhibition design projects and explores graphic design and visual communication. He prefers not to focus on specific issues or adopt a creative style in particular. He likes to follow different design paths each time and to take inspiration from the places where his works will be featured, or from the materials, processes and partners with whom he chooses to work.
