CRISTALPLANT®: SUSTAINABLE AND CERTIFIED

Cristalplant® is a totally safe, sustainable and recyclable solid surface material. Its qualities have been certified and proven through specific tests.

Over the years, Cristalplant® has earned several awards for its highly specific formulation and its minimal environmental impact.

It has obtained the GREENGUARD CERTIFICATE - GOLD Edition from UL, the North American certification body, which certifies worldwide its very low content in VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and the resulting safety of use of the products made of Cristalplant® in high frequency rates environments (e.g. hospitals, schools, public offices etc.) even if scarcely ventilated.
This recognition is not just another logo, yet a tangible sign of the continued commitment of Nicos International in making a product of technical value and minimum environmental impact. Constant and regular inspections of the material are required along the production process to maintain this certificate over the years.

At the same time, the GREENGUARD CERTIFICATE - GOLD Edition is an effective tool for architects and designers planning and building urban sites and areas according to the LEED criteria to give strong emphasis to the sustainability of their projects. GREENGUARD is the only tool considered valid for the purpose of LEED building certification of indoor air quality.

Furthermore, the sanitary products made of Cristalplant® have an EC mark, a self-certification that guarantees the quality and performance of washbasins, showers and bathtubs, without which they could not be sold, as they are considered products manufactured according to the European Regulation 305/2011. Before introducing any kind of new bathroom furniture product on the market, Nicos verifies very specific parameters such as overflow efficiency, resistance to chemical and staining substances and resistance to thermal shocks, only to name a few. This data is then recorded in an official specific document known as DoP (Declaration of Performance) as per the international official standards (EN ISO 14688: 2015 e.g. bathroom sinks).

The introduction of products in the North American market of bathroom furniture requires additional certificates, as per standard 01 CLASS 6915 PLUMBING FIXTURES and CLASS 6915 81 PLUMBING FIXTURES, valid for both the USA and Canada. For several years, Nicos International has been certifying a number of their Cristalplant® products according to these criteria, upon specific customer’s request, and offering full service along the various stages of accreditation, both of a documentary (design audit, company audit, labelling) or technical nature (samples for specific tests).
