WHAT IS CRISTALPLANT?

Ductile, stylish, innovative. Inert, hypoallergenic, non-toxic. Many features in a single material: Cristalplant®.

Designed at the research laboratories of Nicos International, a company with a story of over 30 years in the field of solid surface materials, Cristalplant® transforms the bathroom - as well as other contexts - into unique and unrepeatable works of art. Thanks to its extreme versatility, this material adapts to any possible shape the genius of the most creative designers can conceive.

World-famed artists have chosen Cristalplant® to style the soft and enveloping shapes of their creations in both home bathroom and hotel contract furnishing. Antonio Lupi in his Tuga collection, Antonio Citterio for Axor, Marcel Wanders in the Gobi model by Boffi, Matteo Thun for Lavascamini as a Rapsel exclusive, only to name a few.

Cristalplant® is a technologically advanced, unique and exclusive composite material composed of a high percentage of natural minerals (ATH derived from bauxite) and a low percentage of polyester and high-purity acrylic polymers. The only solid surface 100% made in Italy distributed outside of the standardised, widespread “solid surface network”. It is no coincidence that it is one of the most sought-after materials by the famed designers featured in global specialised fairs. Nicos International of Portobuffolè, Treviso, Italy, is the sole company in the world to produce Cristalplant® and to realise exclusive custom moulds for Italian and global major brands of furniture and design.

A fireproof material (Class 1), with excellent UV resistance, compact and non-porous, durable and pleasant to the touch thanks to its velvety finish that reminds of natural stone. Cristalplant® is also hygienic and easy to clean. Among its best assets, Cristalplant can be brought back to its original beauty by simply cleaning it with a little detergent on an abrasive pad. Any kind of surface damage (e.g. scratches, stubborn stains, cigarette burns) can be easily removed while maintaining its original appearance over time. This simple maintenance can be carried out by the end user ad does not require the aid of an expert.

Recyclable and environmentally friendly, Cristalplant® has a white matte finish (two-coloured surfaces are painted at a later stage of production). In the laboratories of Nicos International, besides the aesthetic and practical aspect, great attention is paid to safety issues. Nicos has significantly invested in advanced systems for testing each artefact (thermal shocks, mechanical tests etc.), in addition to the routine quality tests already conducted on raw materials (reactivity, viscosity and humidity of charges) and those on the finished product such as the ones for colour consistency, hardness and resistance to chemicals and staining.

Cristalplant® is pleasant to the touch and sight, homogeneous throughout its thickness. Thanks to its unique features, it is no longer only used in bathroom furniture and offers a wide range of solutions for limited-series sinks, bathtubs, tables, kitchen tops, cooker hoods and objects in general. The tactile texture and soft touch of its velvety surface evocates warm and pleasant feelings. Cristalplant® is therefore the ideal solid surface material to give shape to the creative ideas of designers as it replicates the essence of marble and stone with greater lightness, flexibility and finesse.
